The death of a loved one is a difficult and sometimes stressful time. We are proud of our involvement with Te Hokinga ā Wairua – End of Life Service, a service which makes things easier before and after someone dies, guiding users through the legal and practical matters that must be taken care of.
Te Hokinga ā Wairua – End of Life Service is another in the series of ‘life event’ services commissioned by the Department of Internal Affairs (DIA).
The service helps users with choosing a funeral director and planning a funeral, financial assistance, registering the death and notifying the relevant agencies. It’s all in one place when it’s needed.
Catalyst Managing Director Don Christie says, “Using the power of open source, Catalyst developed Te Hokinga ā Wairua – End of Life Service using the platform built for the first life event, SmartStart. Government investment in this first life event was leveraged to deliver the second project, a model that ensures the series of initiatives will be rapidly developed and delivered to Kiwis. This helps drive New Zealand’s digital transformation.”
Te Hokinga ā Wairua – End of Life Service is also supported by the Ministry of Social Development, Inland Revenue, the Ministry of Health, the Ministry of Justice, and ACC, with additional expertise provided by the Funeral Directors Association of New Zealand, Mary Potter Hospice and the New Zealand Law Society.
