Nagios is an open source network monitoring tool that allows organisations to perform proactive monitoring of core infrastructure, ensuring that in the case of failures or outages, the IT team are notified of the issue using a prescribed escalation workflow.
Catalyst has been using nagios internally for over 8 years and has discovered that some of our clients had a gap in their infrastructure that nagios filled well.
Internal Nagios Setup and Configuration
As organisations grow, the hardware and service pool within an organisation is spread more and more thinly across a busy team of IT staff. If your organisation has internal infrastructure that you care about, you should have some sort of monitoring solution in place.
This means that when a system stops performing it's core role, you can be sure that the correct members of your team are made aware before the phone rings from a disgruntled end user.
Based on our own experience setting up and managing monitoring systems, we can help you to build your own solution within your own infrastructure with access to email and SMS alerts for escalation procedures.
The great thing is that all the components of this solution are Free and Open Source so you can take ownership of the delivered solution. Catalyst is happy to come in and help with the “heavy lifting” of set up, or manage a dedicated nagios instance in your environment.
The flexibility of nagios means that it can monitor and alert for everything from a disk filling up to air conditioning failure in your server room.
